Antonella Postorino, Alessia Bianco: La nuova calce storica di Palizzi (RC) e l’intonaco al Bergamotto

The contribution contains the results of a study aimed to test prototypes of traditional materials and products, no more present in the local productive sector, in order to check if they can be reintroduced in the market for green building and restoration. The research began in 2004 with a census of quarries and lime kilns in Calabria, which has led to identify in Palizzi (RC) a significant site extraction of limestone and for lime production. Hence the experiment, realized in 2006, to restore a quarry in Palizzi to product a slaked lime, observing the industry regulations. In 2007 the first applications were made in test construction site, to apply managed retreat mortars and dehumidifying and breathable plasters, even added with bergamot. In 2009 was realized the experiment on the detection of antibacterial and antifungal capacity.
