Lime mixtures containing burned kaolin are a particular type of hydraulic mixture similar to the well known mixtures containing “cocciopesto” or “pozzolana”, but with a surplus value that make it very interesting: the white colour. Studies about the kaolin mortars and plasters carried out by the research group of ISCUM (Genoa, Italy) since 80’s years, appears the most advanced studies developed on these materials. In this paper we are going to summarise the best results obtained by the Genoa’s group by means mineralogical and chemical analysis of samples gathered in all territory of Liguria region.
