The essay aims to putting in evidence the strict relationship existing between safeguard of landscape and conservation of archaeological and architectural heritage. In the first part, the problem of environmental protection is focused with regards to laws and conventions. Then, the author puts in evidence the alteration of the equilibrium between nature and architecture suffered in recent years by the Sorrentine and Amalfi Peninsula and the risks in the enhancing the value of cultural assets, as visible in the Furore fiord. The second part of the essay deepens the issue of the conservation of the cultural environment of Crapolla (Massa Lubrense), existing in the first part of the Amalfi coast. Problems concerning architectural, environmental and social conservation are put in evidence in relation to economical factors, too.
